Prof. Eustachio Tarasco | Mycology | Best Researcher Award

Professor | University of Bari Aldo Moro | Italy

Dr. Eustachio Tarasco is a leading researcher in entomology, zoology, and nematology with a prolific scientific record comprising 1,179 citations, 80 documents, and an h-index of 20. His research spans insect biology, morphology, ecology, behaviour, and natural antagonists across forest, agrarian, and urban ecosystems, with major contributions to integrated pest management and the development of sustainable, microbiological control strategies. He has produced extensive work on entomopathogenic nematodes and fungi particularly Steinernematidae, Heterorhabditidae, and Beauveria and Metarhizium species focusing on biodiversity, taxonomy, ecology, and their application as biological control agents. Dr. Tarasco is coauthor of seven newly described nematode species and has led or contributed to numerous national and international research projects funded by bodies such as CNR, MIUR, MASAF, and European collaborative programs. His scientific leadership includes coordination of multi-institutional initiatives on Xylella fastidiosa, biological control innovations, soil biodiversity, vineyard soil quality, and agroecosystem resilience. He has built advanced laboratories for insect pathology and soil biological quality (QBS) analysis and maintains long-standing collaborations with international institutions across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Dr. Tarasco has served in editorial roles for several high-impact journals, including Frontiers and Heliyon, and has been Editor-in-Chief for multiple IOBC-WPRS Bulletins. He has acted as peer reviewer for 147 scientific journals and evaluated competitive research proposals for ANR, FNSNF, and ANVUR. His scientific influence extends to organizing major international meetings and contributing as an invited speaker globally, solidifying his role as a key figure in advancing microbial and nematode control within modern entomological science.
