Dr. Semiha Yenigün is a distinguished researcher in the field of bioactive natural compounds and medicinal chemistry, with a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Ondokuz Mayıs University, Turkey (2023). Her research primarily focuses on phytochemical analysis, enzyme inhibition, antioxidant mechanisms, and molecular docking studies of plant-derived compounds, particularly from the Nepeta genus and other medicinal species. Dr. Yenigün has extensively explored bioactivity-guided fractionation, DNA protection assays, and in silico molecular dynamics and MM-PBSA analyses to evaluate structure–activity relationships of bioactive molecules. She has co-authored numerous publications in high-impact journals such as the Journal of Biomolecular Structure & Dynamics, ChemistrySelect, and Journal of the Indian Chemical Society. Her studies integrate computational chemistry and experimental biochemistry to identify potential therapeutic agents with antioxidant, antimicrobial, and enzyme inhibitory properties. Dr. Yenigün has contributed significantly to TÜBİTAK-funded projects including investigations on Nepeta baytopii and Elaeagnus umbellata, emphasizing the biotechnological production and characterization of triterpenoids and other phytochemicals. Her scholarly output demonstrates a strong command of molecular modeling, pharmacokinetic analysis, and bioinformatics applications in natural product chemistry, establishing her as an emerging expert in structure-based drug discovery and natural compound bioactivity evaluation.
